OLIVERS TARANGA SHIRAZ 2007:

You'd have to have a pretty strong family bond to be able to grow grapes on the same property for six generations one would think but the Oliver family seem to have this stitched up. Established in 1841. Much of there fruit is sold onto larger companies the likes of Penfolds but they do retain a small portion of their best fruit for themselves and it's a family member that creates the wine, the very talented Corrina Rayment.

Colour: Deep, dark maroon.AromaLots of spice, blackberry and dark chocolate notes on the nose.

Palate: Rich layers and ripe chocolaty characters. Excellent tannin structure complete with a long savoury finish.

Vintage Conditions: 2007 was one of the worst drought years on record. Irrigation was crucial in 2007 as there was no sub-soil moisture when the vines started to grow and as a consequence the crops were very tiny. Oliver's vineyard crops were reduced by 70% on a normal year.
