Aglianico is traditionally a southern Italian variety as it loves sun and warmth. In the right season Beechworth, where Fighting Gully Road hails from, provides this warmth and the 2014 is a very good representation of this variety. It is full-bodied with firm tannins and high acidity; showing typical fragrant aromas, with savoury leather and pepper on the palate. Firm tannins and fresh acidity will allow this wine to age for some time but if you want to drink it young, give it some air and match it with rich fatty meat.
