Notes
Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro and Carignan. “Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of “golden joineryâ€, the creation of enduring beauty from broken fragments of ancient pottery as they are pieced together with lacquer laced with gold.†I quite like the word ‘Tsujigiriâ€, which means trying out a new sword (Katana) on a chance passer by, in many cases during nighttime. Exciting!
Dried fruit, black fruit, red fruit, new leather, dried mint, perfume, an old school varnish edge, which I like. Bold, weighty, a crushed sandstone texture, a whole heap of complexity and interest, a powerful finish. So much personality. It’s a wine to take in small sips, each one revealing something new. It’s a little out of the mainstream for this producer, though I like it a lot.
