Sourced from John and Josie D’Aloisio’s vineyard located high up on the hill above the township of Seville. The I10V1 clone Chardonnay was planted in 1991 on its own roots (non-grafted) and is grown on the stunningly rich red volcanic soils this subregion of the Yarra Valley is famous for. A pale yellow colour with green tinges, this is classic cooler vintage Yarra Chardonnay with white peach, Meyer lemon and apple blossom - with hints of flint and a touch of spice. The palate has a density about it - orchard fruits deliver flavour, yet it’s ultra fresh with a core of lemony acidity, which gives drive and length. It finishes with a creamy nutty complexity. This wine definitely requires a good aeration as it’s only been in bottle for a short time and decanting is very much recommended if drinking early. As always, will cellar well for 5+ years (we had a 2012 recently and it was still so fresh!). NOTE - As this wine is unfined and unfiltered it has thrown a tartrate deposit (wine diamonds). This has no harm to you, or the wine, and is completely natural.” Winery Notes
