Notes
This vineyard is Interplanted with the white variety Ugni Blanc, we believe it makes up approximately 1% of the grapes on average each year and is co fermented with the Shiraz. It seems in the warmer years there is less Ugni Blanc left in the vineyard. Both ferments are kept cool and lightly hand plunged once daily as to not over extract tannin. After an extended period of time on skins both ferments are gently basket pressed into the best French oak and left to rest for 18 months in oak on full lees to build texture. Full bodied, more structured, plush, silky and perfumed. This wine showcases the beauty of ancient vines and dry land viticulture, truly expressing the weather conditions of the season it was grown. Serve at 18c, put in the fridge for 15 minutes before serving in summer. As all our wines are unfined and left to rest on gross lees to build texture in barrel, decanting the wine before serving will allow it to shine! Food match: Eye Fillet Cellaring Potential: Time is your friend, store in a dark cool spot free from large daily temperature fluctuations. This wine will continue to improve and reward with cellaring of 15+ years. Unfined, Lightly Filtered, Hand Bottled, Vegan Friendly.

Description

It was a low yield year from a vineyard with a low yield average. 1.8 tonne was harvested from the 15 acres of vines, the end result 118 dozen.

It’s a superb release. Big, muscular and svelte. Arms of tannin, a sizeable body of fruit, a snuggle of high-class oak. Blackberry and raspberry, mocha and earth, roasted woodsy herbs and something prettier, almost floral, from off the Silk Road, as if someone took a pot of petals and tossed it in. This is pretty special territory.
