Established since 1584, Gosset is one of the smallest Grande Marque Champagne producers. Gosset Grand Millesime is one of the best vintage Champagnes on the market. Wine Culture tasting notes 2/6/16: "Nose is so rich and complex; fruit flan, custard, pastry and brioche, coupled with a subtle array of red fruits - amazing! The palate has a solid intensity of white nectarines and ripe lemons and lemon acid drive that we rarely see, while being perfectly balanced and integrated with creamy pastries, toasty nuances and superbly creamy mousse. 19.5/20." An unbelievable 8 years on yeast lees in bottle prior to disgorging!
Description
A cool, ultra-pure and exceptionally pretty nose combines notes of green apple, floral, citrus peel and plenty of yeast influence. The equally elegant, pure and refined middle weight flavors are supported by a firm but fine mousse, all wrapped in a wonderfully long finish that is shaped by tangy citrus-tinged acidity. This is really lovely stuff that will need a few years of bottle aging to fully flesh out. Extremely promising. Allen Meadows, Burghound.
