Notes
This Reserve Gruner Veltliner excelled at the prestigious Frankfurt International Trophy 2025, where not only was it judged to be the Best Wine from Australia, but was also rated as the top Gruner Veltliner in the entire competition, which included other esteemed examples from Austria and Germany. Made from selected, hand-harvested riper grapes, this wine is 100% wild-fermented in neutral large foudres and old, neutral French barriques. Approximately 18% of the wine is encouraged to go through malo-lactic fermentation, and it is matured on the lees, in the barrels, for 11 months prior to bottling. After bottling, the wine is aged for a further eleven months in our cool underground cellar. It is not surprising that this traditional Reserve-style of Gruner Veltliner can readily emulate the delicious richness and complexity of top Burgundian white wines. This wine is full on the nose with peach, nectarine skin, crushed tarragon and gentle spice. The palate is voluptuous with yellow stone fruits, citrus peel and a hint of toasted almonds - yet it retains a linear vibrancy from the juicy acidity and splash of spice. The tail is long and sexy with a gentle textural rub. Serve with roast chicken, duck and grilled pork, or your favourite seafood including shellfish (lobster, crab, scallops) - and excellent with all South East Asian cuisine.
