Notes
Baratuciat (as I have very recently learned) is a near-extinct native varietal of the Italian alps whose moniker, from the local dialect, hilariously translates to 'the cat's balls'. More as a reference to the shape of the grapes than any particular sensory character of the wine. The wine itself is fascinating and delicious. Something like chenin? Something like an oak-worked Vermentino? Not really either? Arguably our favourite across an intense day of tastings here, much like the Grignolino from Frabrizio, a bottle that will delight wine nerds and plain old enjoyers of tasty things alike. - Liam
