Notes
I do love coming across a wine that has me reaching for the Oxford Wine Companion.Grignolino, as it turns out, is a native varietal of the monferrato hills in Piedmonte and this bottle is absolute magic. It screams Langhe and is redolent with suggestions and overtones of the regions more favoured grapes. It has a pale, brick/copper hue and structure that puts one in mind of nebbiolo; It's medium bodied and higher acid like barbera, it even has the kind of black fruit, jubey tones that make me think dolcetto. In short: it's fascinating and delightful to drink.- Liam
